Welcome to Cal Papiol! Welcome to the Penedès!
Cal Papiol is a farmhouse rsurrounded by vineyards and orchards located in the heart of Penedès, built by artisans, its walls are made of brick. There is a small cellar, rehabilitated, with the tools, the press and the vats that allow you to enter its origins, the farming. Currently, the agricultural land continues with the cultivation of the vine and part of the outdoor spaces are dedicated to the vegetable garden with various varieties.
Magí Papiol, Cal Mingola's youngest son, began building the farmhouse in 1915 when he married Llúcia Vives, initially called "Cal Xic Mingola" or "Cala Llúcia". They are dedicated to the cultivation of the land and the care of the animals. During the war and post-war, wealthy Barcelona residents stayed there. His son, Jaume Papiol, works the vineyards, makes wine and works at Caves Rovellats. His wife, Lliberta Solé, raises chickens and takes care of the garden. They built two farms where there were porches to store the grain and they also raised animals for their own consumption. In these spaces is where the masoveries are currently located.
Elisenda Papiol, the daughter, dedicates herself fully to the teaching task but preserves the vineyards by entrusting the work it generates. Together with Rafael Morales, her husband and thinking about the future and the care of the parents in 2006 they carried out a comprehensive reform of the entire space.
Martí Morales Papiol studies engineering but the bond with the land is strong, he works to spread the word about the cultivation of the garden through Instagram and decides to start the two farms dedicated to rural tourism.
This house has come to us thanks to the effort, constancy and perseverance of humble farmers who, knowing how to take advantage of the earth's resources, maintained and expanded their heritage and today we and you can enjoy it.
